A cut starts with how you actually wear it

The first question is not what shape you want, it is how much time you are willing to give it on a Tuesday morning. A cut that only works after twenty minutes with a round brush is the wrong cut for someone who air dries. We would rather build the shape around your real routine than hand you something that looks right for one day.

We also look at how your hair grows. A cowlick at the front, a heavy back, or fine hair through the crown all change where the weight has to come out. That is why two people can ask for the same length and need two different cuts.

Dry cutting, wet cutting and why we switch

Wet cutting is the more precise way to establish a length and a baseline shape, because the hair sits predictably. Dry cutting is how you see what the hair actually does once it is back to its own texture, and it is where curl, cowlicks and any unevenness show up.

Most appointments here use both. The length gets set wet, then the detail is refined dry so what you see in the mirror is what you will see at home.

The signature blowdry

A blowout is a service in its own right, not just the finish on a cut. Booked on its own it is a good option before an event, a photo or a weekend away, and it will usually hold for a few days if you protect it at night.

It is also the best way to learn how to handle your own hair. Ask your stylist to talk you through the sections and the brush as she works. Most people are using a brush that is the wrong size for their length, and that one change makes more difference than a new product.

Kids, updos and events

We cut children's hair, and it is worth booking those appointments earlier in the day when everyone has more patience. For weddings and events we do updos and styling, and those are best booked well ahead because the dates cluster.
