Smoothing and repair do two different jobs

People often ask for a treatment when what they mean is one of two very different things. Smoothing changes how your hair behaves, cutting down frizz and drying time. Repair works on the internal structure of a hair that has been stressed by lightener, heat or time. One is about handling, the other is about condition.

Getting the order right matters. If your hair is fragile, repair comes first and smoothing waits. Your stylist will tell you which you actually need rather than selling you both.

Cezanne smoothing

Cezanne is a formaldehyde free smoothing treatment. It reduces frizz and cuts blow drying time noticeably, and it softens curl rather than removing it, so you keep movement instead of ending up poker straight.

It suits people whose main complaint is that their hair is unmanageable in humidity, which on the shoreline is most of the summer. The effect wears off gradually rather than leaving a line, so there is no awkward grow out stage.

K-18 molecular repair

K-18 is a repair treatment that works inside the hair rather than coating the outside. It is used at the basin, most often alongside a lightening or color service, because that is when hair is under the most stress.

You will feel the difference in how the hair combs and how it holds a style rather than seeing a dramatic visual change on the day. It is maintenance, not a rescue for hair that is already breaking.

What a treatment will not do

No treatment turns damaged hair back into new hair. Split ends are cut off, not repaired, and hair that is snapping at the mid lengths needs the length taken down as part of the plan. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something.

We would rather tell you that at the start than take your money twice. If a haircut is the honest answer, we will say so.

Aftercare and who to book with

After a smoothing treatment, follow the washing and tying instructions your stylist gives you, because the first few days set the result. Sulphate free shampoo and turning the water temperature down will extend any treatment.
